Hi There,
It is my turn!!!!! I am Carla and I am married to Carl for 29 years. Our 30th Anniversary is in a little over 3 weeks.
We have one daughter who is 27 and is getting married I hope next Augest.
I moved to Florida after residing in Colorado for 24 years. It is one the best moves I have done. In the winter I shovel sunshine not snow!!!!!
I had my revision RNY from VBG in 02 and have lost 150 pounds with a 20 pound gain from being on Prednisone this summer but it is comming off slowly but surely.
I have had all the plastics done in 03 and am loving my new body.
I started out in a tight size 24-26 and now can wear 4 to 10 depending on who makes it and what it is.
Thirft stores and resale shops become your friends!!!!!

Nice to meet you Carla married to Carl. Bet that was confusing for a little while.  I've noticed a lot of us have been married for a long time, that's rare these days.

Florida sounds like a wonderful place.  I love warm weather and sunshine.  I've been to Mexico numerous times for vacation but I've only ever made it to Florida once and that was to Tampa.  I really need to explore the state more.

I still love stepping out of the shower and seeing my "new" body in the mirror.  I swear it was worth every penny I spent on plastics.  Congrats on your journey, sounds like you've done a great job.

Jan, congrats on your surgery.  The IV weight will take a few days to come off and then your actual weight will start dropping off like crazy.  When I was a newbie, I read a lot of people's profiles to get ideas of how other people's journey's went.

I gained weight during hell week.

I was so worried they would cancel my surgery, Dr. G assured me though I was a text book case. I forgot to use the pain pump and honestly been pain free since.

Since surgery I am down a total of 35 pounds and tonsof inches.
Had a few stalls and only dumped twice.........raps on wood HARD.........

At six weeks I had steak and salad and in moderation, can eat most things in most settings including eating out, babequing etc................ AS LONG AS I TAKE MY TIME.

I abhor the protein supplements and am worried I may be mini dumping on Ensure  ( I bought five cases because they were on sale post op and thought I was tolerating them well........YECK)

The only thing I regret is I read the blue book and bought all sorts of post op food. The Nut came in and made strokes all through my book escalating my progress

Wow, 35 pounds!  that's more than a pound every other day!  I'd take that.  Can't wait to see it start coming off.  Of course I can't walk by the scale without checking.  I know it's not right, but tuff, I'm gonna keep checking.
The only thing I regret is I read the blue book and bought all sorts of post op food. The Nut came in and made strokes all through my book escalating my progress  I'm not sure what you mean with this statement.
I meet with my poker club on August 24th and already the gal having it has asked me 'what can you eat?'  I'm going to tell her cottage cheese and maybe I'll bring some soup or cheese.  No one has to make a special effort for me.  I'll work it out.

It is what it is.

If I remember correctly my book had the post op diet as clear liquids, progressing to liquids, then on to pureed food at about 3 weeks. She stroked out the pages and told me to start mushy in two days and progressed from there. So I skipped weeks of food that I had already bought while I was in the USA. Canada does not have nearly the selection of products here.I had bought tons of sugar free jello, applesauce, creamed soups etc and have not needed any of them.
At four weeks I was eating shrimp and most fish, and cottage cheese. I was dabbling with different spreads, liverwurst, cream cheese and other protein rich items.
I tried many different crackers, tending to stick to the lower carb and fat free types.
The protein powders were a flop, I ended up adding them to yogurt, drowning with sugar free syrup and forcing it down.

Jan, SIX days after my RNY I couldn't resist getting on the scale. . . I had gained 2 lbs!! However, about the next day it started dropping and fast! What a ride that first 6 months was for me. Surgery on Feb 16, 2005 and in August of that year I had gone from 377 to 258. Practice patience! It will soon be falling off.

Hi, Stephanie!

I'm Jean, age 55, married for 22 years.  I'm originally from MA but moved to TN 10 years ago (for a job I no longer have) and love it here.  I spent over 30 years designing and developing consumer products (mostly gifts & decorative accessories), but now I'm a writer (have written 3 novels, published 1 novel, and am working on sort of a user's guide to the adjustable gastric band).  I was banded in September 2007 and have had a great WLS journey so far.  I'm still trying to figure out the whole maintenance thing, though.

My husband and I have 7 dogs and 1 cat (there's a big neon sign over our house that flashes: "SUCKER" to every stray animal that passes by).  The rest of my husband's human family lives in New England.  My 90-yr-old mom (advanced Alzheimers) is in a nearby nursing home and her 86-yr-old sister lives in New England.

I love to cook (though I concentrate on healthy cooking now), read mystery novels, do rubber stamping and scrapbooking, and exercise (who would ever have thought I'd say I love to exercise?!).
